Past Event
The Shire of Westonia in conjunction with Rural Health West, Country WA Primary Health Network & Wheatbelt East Regional Organisation of Councils (WEROC). Medical students from Curtin Medical School and The University of Notre Dame Australia Fremantle School of Medicine will participate in a rural immersion experience in Westonia between the Monday 9 to Friday 13 March 20
The program aims to build student understanding of a rural life. During their stay, students will experience a farm safety course and visits to local general practices, hospitals and schools, Community events and Town Specific opportunities We acknowledge many of the students will become metropolitan doctors in the future, however this program will give them an understanding of what a country patient experiences when travelling to/from Perth for treatment. If a student is influenced by the program to consider a rural career, that will be the cherry on top.
