NOTICE OF PUBLIC ADVERTISEMENT OF PROPOSED ROAD DEDICATION (WESTONIA TOWN COMMON RESERVE 14983) – FROM BOUNDARY ROAD EXTENDING NORTH ALONG WARRACHUPPIN ROAD, WESTONIA SHIRE.

It is hereby notified for public information and comment that the Shire of Westonia is proposing to have portion of Westonia Town Common Reserve 14983 from Boundary Road extending to the north along Warrachuppin road, Westonia dedicated for purpose of road reserve for provision of a new road servicing connecting to Boundary Road and extending north to the existing Warrachuppin Road (parallel to existing Warrachuppin Road).

Details of the proposal are available for inspection at the Council Administration offices, Wolfram Street, Westonia, between the hours of 8:30am and 5:00pm, Monday to Friday, or alternatively on Councils website www.westonia.wa.gov.au.

Submissions on the proposal may be submitted to the Council in writing on or before 5:00pm Thursday 24th May 2018.

In an attempt to provide further explanation and background to the aforementioned proposal, Ramelius Resources, the owners of the Edna May Operations wish to commence the "Greenfinch" project in July of this year.

In order to commence the project, a road realignment needs to occur in order allow the mine to commence and the noise bund to be built, which is proposed to be built on top of the existing Warrachuppin Road (Refer Red section on map "C"). Engineers have provided an alternate route to remedy these issues.

In order for this to be achieved Council needs to have some ownership and control of the land and in discussions with the Department of Lands the simplest way of achieving this is for Council to seek dedication of a 30 metre portion (total clearing allocation of up to 3.75ha) on the Westonia Town Common Reserve 14983 (currently Vested with the Shire of Westonia) from Boundary Road extending to the north along Warrachuppin Road to provide safe access to the Edna May Mine Site and farming land to the north along Warrachuppin Road.

In accordance with Section 58(3) of the Land Administration Act 1997, Council advertised the proposed closure in the Western Australian newspaper published on Thursday 19th April 2018 calling for public comments on the proposal within a 35 day period, which expires on Thursday 24th May 2018.
